COVID-19 Update

Updated April 2020

(Note: as information about COVID-19 is changing rapidly, we will update this page as needed.)

Effective immediately all Thousand Oaks Pacer runs and events are canceled through April 3o, 2020. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as we have them.

Pacers, we have weathered so many literal storms, injuries, and tough climbs together. It saddens all of us to make the call to cancel runs and events, but we do it for the health and safety of our runners, families, and the community-at-large.

If you can, we encourage you to still run and walk, albeit solo. Keep scrolling for safety tips on running during these turbulent times. Physical exercise can help with your mood, feelings of isolation, and depression. Our Facebook and Instagram pages are active and monitored—please activate the network to connect on all things, running or otherwise.

In the meantime, we are looking for more virtual options to provide coaching support and community.

Rest assured we look forward to getting back to running and to our community as soon as it is safe. We hope you stay healthy until we see each other again.

COVID-19 Running FAQs
Updated April 7, 2020

Can I still run during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Yes. Though you should NOT run if you are feeling unwell or are under self-quarantine (voluntary or mandatory).

We do not recommend running with someone from a different household. If you go for a solo run, please use extra caution to:

  • Wash hands before and after any run.
  • Shower after your workouts as soon as possible.
  • Run in locations without too many people.
  • Be safe:
    • Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back.
    • Bring a phone so you can contact home or emergency services services.

As this situation changes rapidly, please refer to current recommendations from state and national health authorities for best practices during this pandemic.

When will the Thousand Oaks Pacer runs start up again?
At this time, we are canceling all runs and events through April 30, 2020. We will reevaluate our plans closer to that date and communicate any updates when we have them.
